10-05-2005 We got a grant from the Schure-Beijerinck-Popping fund
In a big expedition as the one we are organizing you always run into some surprises. One the things we found out is that our fish nets are not as resistant to the Latin American predator fish as we hoped them to be. This makes that some parts of the net only last for 2 or 3 lakes, after which they have to be repaired or replaced. Repairing them is not as easy as it looks. Happily mister Kosten from Kosten Watersports in Breskens was willing to give me some crash courses in mending nets.
Some nets, however, come out of the water ‘beyond repair’. Replacing them brings additional costs. This is why we are very happy to have received a grant from the Dutch Schure-Beijerinck-Popping fund especially for buying fish nets for the Salga project. Many thanks!
